Social Studies: This course introduces the student to philosophy and rationale of geography, land & waters forms, globes, maps, flags and multi-cultural awareness in the Montessori early childhood classroom . History: time, calendar, seasons and personal history. Administration: This course covers all aspects of starting a new school including: licensing requirements, legal structure, budget & financial, accreditation, and the responsibilities of the school administrator, and the parent-school partnership.

This course covers the evolvement of the teacher as a critical element of the environment. It will introduce several stress management strategies and delve into the “Spirit of the Teacher”. Several experiential activities to uncover personal growth opportunities will be included.

This course emphasizes the importance of the extension of the Montessori environment to the outdoors for gross motor, heavy lifting, continued care of environment through water and other work, sensory stimulation, development of biophilia and multiple intelligences.

IT – Observation
This course introduces the student to the critical nature of observation regarding sensitive periods in the Montessori Infant & Toddler classroom and to basic methods of observation. This course interprets the philosophy of Dr. Montessori regarding peace education and develops practical and concrete applications and materials for the Infant & Toddler program. It includes specific methods derived from Dr. Becky Bailey’s Conscious Discipline program.

Music This course covers classical music, contemporary music, dance, music theory, and cooperative games. The course also covers theories of curriculum development and reconfiguration of current learning materials. Art This course covers art history, two-dimensional and three-dimensional art techniques, and developmentally appropriate craft activities.
